Winter in North Dakota

Winter is my favorite season so I definitely live in the right place. However, even for this lover of snow and blizzards, there comes a time when enough is enough. We were teased with highs in the upper 30's for a few days and all around town people were driving with their windows down and more than a few were spotted wearing shorts and sweatshirts. Sadly, this isn't going to last. There's a large storm headed this way; a storm calling for snow, cold temps, and wind. Apparently it is not yet spring in North Dakota.
So, today it's off to the grocery store to stock up on the essentials as well as what my family calls storm food. These are snacks that we normally eat only when it's storming outside.
Do I want this latest storm to come? No. But, am I just a little excited? I have to admit that I am. Hunkering down with my family is one of my greatest pleasures in life. So bring it on!! We'll be ready.

  4. Hi Roberta,
What a pretty header. Your title reminds me of Laura Ingalls and Willa Cather.

I read down through your posts...sounds like your revival meeting at church was so sweet and precious! There's nothing more sweeter and exciting then to hear from God...so happy for you!!! I'm also rejoicing along with you about your son going to the altar!!!

Please stop by for a visit...I'd love to have you and your welcomed anytime!

I live in north-eastern Colorado so I know all about that cold wintery weather...blizzards and all. In fact, we just had a front move in and it's snowing even as I write. It's been in the 60's and nearly 70 here this past week, talk about change...hehe!!! Well my friend, stay warm...and enjoy your family time while your "hunkered down" waiting out the storm!

    Warmest wishes,
    Chari

  7. Hi Cyndi,
    Great post!

I am a recent transplant to Georgia from Washington state. We didn't get a LOT of snow there, but it tended to stick around for awhile when it came! My daughter(who lives in Washington) just told me today that the snow is back again and she is so ready for Spring!

Hope you enjoy time with your family during the storm and that you are all safe and warm through it all. I love to cuddle under lots of blankets with a good book or movie to enjoy while waiting out the storm. I am currently living in Georgia and our "storm" lasted all of one day! then it was back to business as usual - Last Sunday was a snow day - today was in the 70's! I LONG for a snow day so I can take a day off from work!
    Keep warm!
    Blessings to you,
    Kymber

  8. I saw the weather tonight and it looks like the storm is going to be a doozi!!! I'm in Des Moines until my flight on Monday morning. Brian was here for military training, so we come down for the weekend so Katie and the kids could spend some time with him. They're going back tomorrow night and I'll stay here at the hotel and take the shuttle to the airport on Monday morning. I can't wait to see where this blog is going to take you! I love it!
